K... juz as i thought... todae is boring...
even though 113 pax reservations...
very few ppl order salads... Zzz...
anyways... Antonio off todae... Vivian off todae...
got 1 person take urgent leave...
so Prego short of ppl...
guess who came down to help?

cubicle beside me... got 1 person... bombing skills very the pro...
got sound 1...

went in tuckshop...
can smell the choking smell of over fried chillies... X_X
coz the Daily Special is hot plate sting ray...
over cook loh... Zzz...
they boil the sting ray liao... O_O
den slightly grill... to bluff u they grilled it...
den put onto the hot plate wif banana leaf...
den drizzle chilli sauce over it...
immediately after the chilli sauce touch the hot plate...

nuclear bomb mushroom cloud come out...
and the chilli smell is overwhelming... Zzz...
can die... XP
sting ray is tough... but nvm lah...
better dan the rest of the food... LOL

3rd dae in Prego

ok... todae starting to get shag of spilt-shift liao... -_-
maybe becoz of... hmmm... (not saying... :P)
so i might not blog much todae...
coz of shagness... i think i have forgotten most of wat happened todae...
all i noe is... sianness coming in...

i finally asked... they DO have split-shift pay... :D
$7 per dae...
coolness!!! $7 X 26 daes = $182!!! + Basic Allowance $600 = $782 $_$
i'm gonna be rich for my 1st mth in Swissôtel... wahahhaaa!!!

everydae is a new dae...
i see new things everydae... even though lesser and lesser...
no bdaes todae... :(
i asked the juz POP from trainee from Raffles Training Centre (RTC) (i think... -_-)
abt the bdae thingy... how come so many ppl celebrate bdaes in Prego?
she told me something dat shocked me...and very true for singaporeans... O_O
all bdae guys or gals get a complimentary bdae cake from the house...
OMG!!! NO WONDER SO MANY PPL CELEBRATE BDAES IN PREGO... -_-

told us to gather and told the aunties to clean the kitchen...

which at 6pm i went back... i saw them taking videos of our food
together wif a bunch of chinese kids...
like some Ch8 kid's programme...
wah... antonio treat them so good...
make pizza for them... give them tiramisu...

K... too much to blog yesterdae...
guess u guys couldn't absorb in dat much...
so left out a few points to blog...
now i'm gonna continue where i left off and blog a bit of todae's happenings...

Locker room...
aiyoooooo... look more like armory to me... all the yellow elongated lockers...
never tell u... u'd think they are used to store ur M-16 Rifles... -_-
how to put my things inside sia... -_-
for bikees... even if u cut ur helmet in half... still can't go in loh...

everything in Prego is self made...
cool rite???
lasagne...
pizza... own made pizza dough... not like pizza hut... -_-
see them tossing and spinning in the pizza section...
even the pasta is own made... wow...
fusilli made from own dough recipe... they have a pasta machine to make it...
ravioli... wow wow wow... own stuffing...

i finally saw the difference of hotels and Rosette or restaurants...
chef/cooks actually DO NOT wash the kitchen... (INCLUDING stoves!!!)
somehow... i feel kinda uneasy...
usually it's us dat's washing... now it's left for them aunties and uncles...
i was wiping the motorised slicer after use...
den another guy told me no need clean... juz dismantle can liao...
the auntie will wash...
i was like O_o...
i feel kinda bad for them...
so old liao still made to wash dangerous operating equipment...
things like... the slicer... stoves... etc...
dat's not all... they do things wrong... kena scolded by the cook... -_-
the auntie use wet cloth to wash the pizza dough roller...
thinking life would be easier... she switched on the roller and run the cloth under it...
and to her dismay... the cloth got stuck... O_O
den the cook scold her... she looked so shocked and felt helpless...
aiyo... so poor thing...

lunch... din bother to eat chup chai peng todae liao...
i eat Daily Special...
claypot rice!!! wahahaa
so much nicer... and piping hot... too hot... (for me)

asked Vivian how to tie the stupid scarf-no-tie tie...
ok... scarf... -_-
coz her scarf look so neat and nice... wow...
it's like a duplicate of me tying a tie... and cutting of the protruding parts... Zzz...
so she taught me...
still a bit blur...
den she reached over and tied for me... O_o
hope nobody was watching... -_-
anyway... i learn fast... hahaa... now i noe how 2 tie liao... wahhahaha!!!

after split-shif... wander around B2 of Swissôtel...
and eventually wandered into the Staff Resting Room...
opened the door... and in the dark... dark... and i mean dark room...
lies a couch... and 3 ppl lying there...
as the door close behind me... and light diffusing faster dan speedy gonzales...
i ended up walking blindly to the couch...
relying only on memory when there was light... and feeling...
found the couch... and lay there...rest a while... close my eyes...
when i open my eyes...
they were getting accustomed to the darkness... and i realised...
hey! the room isn't really as dark as i 1st though it would be...
i could actually see the people beside me...
someone then came in... and closed the door behind him...
this time i could see him clearly...
and dat poor chap... must be blind in total darkness...
slowly edging to the couch...trying hard not to bump into someone's legs...
LOL... i thought he looked funny...
anyway... i closed my eyes again... and slowly... slowly... ZZZzzzzzzzzz............
woke up at 5pm... went for dinner... claypot again... hahaa
and went to work!!!

juz as wat Vivian said... everydae got ppl celebrate bdae in Prego...
and indeed...

wat's so special abt pregging birthdaes?
did mostly slicing todae... other dan orders...
slicing the salami... the cappacio... the parma ham...
of coz... using the motorised slicer...

someone broke glasses again todae...
morning once... night once...
yesterdae oso got break... -_-
other dan that... no accidents though...

there will be a Prego - Kitchen only chalet coming up soon...
was asked if i would wanna go...
dunno leh... like dun feel dat gum wif them yet...
hmmm...

on my way home... at the bus stop todae...
saw an ang mo couple...
kissing in public...
ass grabbing in public... O_o
well... it's the norm over there in their Country...

went home smelling like olive oil...

3rd dae... here i come!!!

1st dae in Prego...

Ok... todae got a lot of things to write...
1st dae working in Swissôtel...
1st dae in Prego...
Prego means Welcome in italian...
read that somewhere on their notice board...

met KM and WL at kopi tiam opposite Raffles Hotel at 7:30am todae...
have some kaya gu yoo lo ti...
a couple of soft boiled eggs...
and milo peng...
eat till 8:05 ben call and complain... we r late... hahaa

anyway...
when we got our uniforms...
for the 1st time in our lives...
we spent ½hr changing into our chef u...
partially becoz our uniform = gundam suit...
all in different pieces...
fixing here and there... button by button...
even our apron comes in 3 pieces... -_-
and also... partially...
we have 16 buttons to button...
including the 8 buttons 1st put into our chef u piece...
dat makes it 24 buttons... -_-
also need to put on the stupid scarf-no-tie tie...
never put on b4... take ages to figure it out...

ok... so we were at HR at 8:55
have to wait for respective chefs to come "collect" us
and i... suay suay being in Prego... suay suay being split-shift...
have to wait till 9+ coz they oso come late...
after which when he comes... i got orientated around the Prego kitchen...
ok... quite big... 2X the size of Rosette...
not including the pizza, garde manger and pastry in the restaurant itself...

later... went to chef office to meet up wif otto weiber... (or however u spell it... )
Director of RC Hotels Pte. Ltd. woah...
how come he can beard... and we no can?

okok... back to Prego...
i was appointed to garde manger this week... fridae off... :P
split-shift... -_-
10am - 2pm... 6pm - 10pm...
1st... wash veges... 6 tubs of air-flown salad
3 tubs romaine...
3 tubs butterhead...
1 tub green frisee
2 tubs rocket
spin dry till finger got cut from the irritating washer which fell off it's place...
oh well... small cut... nvm...
den come blending the tomato dip...
8 tubs...
using gigantic hand held blender...
much like the rosette portable blender... juz dat... 4X bigger...
very heavy indeed...
1st tub ok...
coming to last... u can feel the weight of the blender titan... -_-

oh... and did i mention... the person incharge of me is a chio bu... XD
wow... pretty girl sia...
called Vivian... hahaa
very friendly... very soft-spoken...
dont look like a CDP to me though...
well... looks CAN be decieving...
anyway... the Sous Chef is a very playful italian...
lol...
make fun of all the kitchen staff...
esp Vivian... :P
quite a fun loving bunch though... hahaa

after 9 mths... which outlet would i choose for my full-time job...
b4 joining Swissôtel... i thought... interest in a particular cuisine...
like... Asian...

good and happy working environment...

i think they noe todae my 1st dae...
so all order different salads... make me learn... -_-
happy... now confident of running garde manger alone liao... hahaa

i heard loud "raining" sound in the restaurant todae...
thought it was raining... but look out... no rain leh...
den i realised someone deep fry something wif a lot of water...
so sizzle very loud...
and oil spilt all over the floor... -_-
heng i not at the pizza section...

and speaking of pizza...
their pizza oven is retro loh...
use FIREWOOD...
wow...traditional sia...

i got a bite of lasagne todae... OMG... it's heavenly...
never tasted such delicious lasagne b4 in my life...
if i were a cartoon...u can see wind blowing in my face and light coming from my back...
people... if u wanna eat lasagne... come Prego...
i give it a 9/10

excited yet worried...
happy yet sad...

excited coz get a chance to see how a hotel giant operates...
worried coz i might get crushed by the hotel hiant...

happy coz i get to work in my 1st choice hotel...
sad coz there goes my freedom... sold to the hotel...
