National Healthcare Group Annual Scientific Congress 2007
VERY BUSY dae...
for the 1st time in the history of Swissôtel...
got a 3000 pax buffet lunch function... O_o
from 2200 change to 2800... change to 3000... kaoz...
never had the hotel had such a big function...
the most is 2000+... never 3000...
it's a function for all medical ppl...
from polyclinics to NUH...
it's so big... the entire lvl 4 of the hotel is for their function...
all ballrooms...
all function rooms...
all foyers...
including all corridors... -_-
all kitchens on lvl 4 are used for housing food for top-up
1st time in my life i see such a big function...
i take care of 2 different location buffet set up alone... Zzz...
and both set-ups ain't exactly near each other...
so i had to walk to and fro to top-up both sides...
walk until my legs aching liao... -_-
rush here rush there...
so many ppl... Zzz...
finally lunch buffet is finished...
all went back into their function rooms for dunno wat seminar or talk... or watever...
so we went back kitchen to prepare for the up-coming war...
just 1 hour later... ONE hour...
the pigs came out...
for coffee break...
yep... we set up coffee break buffet again...
and they are like locusts swarming over the food...
and so fast... so so so fast... food gone... -_-
my god! they juz had buffet lunch 1 freaking hour ago... O_o
and they can still clear our buffet tables... Zzz...
after coffee break... went back again to prepare for tomoro's war...
well... it's a 2 dae function...
and tomoro comes another 2000+ pax buffet lunch and coffee break again...
ahhh.... *faint*
a lot of work to do...
so todae OT till 8pm...
another 13 hrs of my life give to the hotel liao...
ya... one of the buffet items for tomoro is...
curry strawberry tartlet... O_o
diaoz...
i tried one...
actually can't really taste the curry...
coz the custard very sweet...
and the vanilla flavour overpowered the curry taste...
but it's only the after taste can u taste the curry and it's spiciness...
dunno who's idea it is... -_-
anyway... we prepared ourselves for tomoro's war liao...
for 2000+ pax buffet... we prepared even more food dan for 3000 pax buffet todae...
coz... never underestimate the power of Singaporeans...
so if tomoro food kena finish by them... i have nothing to sae...
also the reason y todae we OT until so late...
ahhh... so tired... Zzz...
i complain so much...
but actually... i is happy...
got a chance to see such a mammoth event...
open up my eyes... O_O
hahaa...
juz complain for the sake of complaining...
Singaporeans...
tsk tsk...
LOL... :P
next week...

Happy bdae to WX...
juz dat i went to WX's bdae at an isolated chalet in Bottle Tree Park...
and my... is dat isolated...
took me quite a while to locate it's bearings...
anyway... Nelson, Joanne and Ivy went too...
and a few other DHM classmates...
WJ couldn't make it due to ending work at 11pm
played cards...
the usual bdae entertainment... lol...
chat chat...
heard from Nelson... Hendrix no longer working in SHATEC...
details of where he went is unknown...
then came the cake cutting ceremony...
looked at the giant cake from Prima Deli...
and i can't help but notice...
is dat...
dat dat... dat... thing over there...... parsley?
PARSLEY??!! O_o
who in sane mind would put parsley on a cake... -_-
then thoughts flooded my mind...
i imagined the taste of parsley wif cream and mango...
eeeewwww...
absolutely clash of flavours...
well... at least put mint leaf for colour rite?... Zzz...
not parsley...
oh well... here's the mango parsley sponge cake...
When did pastry ever used parsley?
after the cake is finished...
most of us went home...
though Jeswan and the other late gang is coming later on...
i guess i'm not waiting... :P
so here i am...
and of course... happy 21st birthdae to u WX...
though i noe u never came across my blog b4... LOL... :P
will wish her bdae blessing again on her actual bdae...

Oyster Day
oyster dae!!! yum yum...
again...
work long hrs w/o OT pay... :(
nvm...
at least i feasted on dozens of oysters... XP
16 kinds...
eat until i buay tahan...
stomach full of oysters...
a lot not very nice...
but some are actually kinda nice... :)
morning a lot of chefs/cooks were opening oysters...
including Ben...
i siamded...
coz i was doing canapés...
so didn't get to open oysters...
7500 of them... O_o
then came the function...
so we set up the oysters...
the cheese display which the gardemanger chef made...
etc...
then when the function start...
top up all the oysters which the oyster hungry guests cleared the moment the go code was given... -_-
i really admire guests sometimes...
they can stack dozens of oysters on a little plate no bigger dan a side plate... -_-
WOW... impressive... O_o
including condiments... like lemons...
when the crowd start to slow down...
we were behind the scene feasting on the oysters... haha
nice......
anyway... took a few photos of the function...
and here they are...
Ice carving oyster set-up, featuring 16 different kinds of oysters from around the world. Mainly from France, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Ireland.
Close up of the ice carving oyster display
The entrance of the ice carving display, the top which wrote : "Chaine Des Rotisseur"

I'm going to pastry tomoro...

Star Dust
so here's my review...
it's actually quite a nice movie...
storyline... a fairy tale... a love story... a star which fell in love wif a mortal...
evil witches who want the star dead for everlasting life...
some parts are very un-realistic and non logical...
but hey... dat's y it's a fairy tale... :P
so since it's a fairy tale... i have no complaints...
the director cleverly put in a few humour elements into the movie it make it always entertaining...
even though a bunch of hyenas behind me cackle at even the parts i dun think it's funny... -_-...
though it's a love story... it lack dat deep impact of touchyness dat would make ppl tear...
storyline also quite predictable... as in all fairy tales...
and of course... like all fairy tales... it's all the same old "Happily ever after" story... XD
4/5
it also appeared to me dat...
wat if the one thing dat u really yearn for finally belong to u... and then u realised dat it isn't wat u wanted at all...
but yet... it's the one dat have all the while been by your side but u never thought of possessing... is actually the one dat you are looking for all along...
Gardemanger Re-Visited
sian...
Thurs - Sun
due to the oyster dae function... i am back to help out... Zzz...
16 different kinds of oysters from around the world...
woah... O_o
it's a function for all oyster lovers... :P
ya... anyway... 1st dae abck in gardemanger...
the chef sibei hot...
1st time i see him so angry... O_o
usually when he not happy he only sae u oni...
todae... he actually screamed at another new full-timer in his kitchen...
apprently... he's the blur kind...
and like dunno wat the hell is happening in gardemanger for the past 1 mth he's there... -_-
so... ended up getting screamed by everyone in the kitchen...
haiz... i pity him...
Singapore is small...
especially in the hospitality industry...
in came a new staff for gardemanger...
well... i wish him luck...
hope he dun die here... :P
anyway... he's a Malaysian...
and is also our senior from SHATEC...
the batch dat juz graduated not long ago...
so i asked him which hotel he attached to last time...
he said Plaza Parkroyal...
hmmm... sound's awfully familiar...
hey! ain't dat where TG's attaching at?
lol... so i asked him if he knew him...
and yes... he told me he kena aim by the Exec Chef there... lol... :P
details not quite sure... coz we chatted for a while oni...
it's something like this...
Parkroyal had a change of Exec Chef...
so TG was caught by the new Exec Chef in the chiller slacking...
LOL!!!
poor thing... last 2 mths liao still kena such swayness... :P
anyway... it's a rule in gardemanger dat 1st dae u r to walk around the kitchen opening every door every drawer... chiller... freezer...
get to know where things are kept... so dat when u officially work... u at least have a rough idea where the thing u are looking for is...
and he came across a lot of things in the kitchen which he asked us wat they were...
when asked... he said he never see b4... O_o
NOW I'M GLAD I CHOSE THIS HOTEL...
if not i think i'll really be a mountain tortoise loh...
to think i even thought of going to Plaza Parkroyal if my Swissôtel interview is rejected...
coz near my home... :P
HENG AH...
phew...
so... to all future attachment trainees... please choose a big hotel for ur attachment...
u'll get a chance to see a lot of things... learn a lot of things...
but also will be very busy... :P
but it trains u to work in a busy environment... :)
