The Nanny Diaries

Went to Marina Square for a movie todae...
watched The Nanny Diaries...
hmm... a so-so movie loh...
again... LOL!!! :P
quite interesting... but lack that omph in the humour...
story line a bit straightforward...
wif a tinge of touchy moments near the end...
3.5/5...

anyway... b4 the movie...
had lunch at Pasta de Waraku...
a Japanese pasta restaurant...
food there is also... so-so... -_-
we went in... placed our order...
and they served us this cool bottle of ice water... :P

also served to us was the mixed green salad wif a special Japanese dressing...
if i'm not wrong...
it's yakitori sauce wif some rice vinegar...
i took a photo of it...

but lazy to show it out... LOL...

follow up next... lemon squash...

a veeeeeeeeeerrrrry sour... plain sour drink... -_-

like lemon juice wif some water...

it'd taste nicer wif a hint of sweetness...

then came the main course...

cream based lobster spaghetti...

lobster gratinated wif mozzerella cheese and a hint of lemon juice...

some shimeji mushrooms inside though... like abt 2 stalks? :P

ok... not so bad...

but the cream...

it's bonito based cream sauce...

taste is not strong enough...

very mild in flavour... more seasoning please!

and LOL...

garnished wif a ridiculously HUGE basil leaf... O_o

Jus look at the size of dat leaf... O_o

we shared... so we could try both pastas...

separated into 2 side plates...

so on the other side of the table...

the chilli crazy Singaporean took my worst nightmare and added them to the pasta...

emptied abt ¼ of the bottle of the chilli flakes into the pasta...

and black peppercorn to top it off... O_O!!!

From cream sauce to bolognaise?

and lastly... came our last order...

cream and tomato seafood fetucinni...

basically... it's the same bonito cream sauce added wif tomato coulis...

so if the cream sauce ain't flavourful enough... the same goes to this...

wif 3 mussels... 3 prawns... and some tiny squid rings... -_-

sprinkle of chopped parsley as garnish...

Mussels quite big... so still ok... :P

there you go... the food critic has spoken... LOL!!!

Chainmail Armor

Found an ancient artefact todae...

a piece of old castle age chainmail armor...

the chainmail gauntlet... :P

cool...

it's kinda heavy...

and uncomfortable...

dun even understand how knights survive in their chainmail armor...

plus a freaking bulky full plate armour... Zzz...

anyway... found this in butchery...

suppose they use it for some heavy machinery or so...

i wonder wat'll happen if i smash a clever on my hand wif this glove on...

Actual production of longest lasagne

Here's wat we have been doing for the past 2 weeks...

in preparation for Prego's longest lasagne actual dae event...

which falls on the 21st October 2007 (Sunday)

Time of event : 9am - 1pm

SGD$10 per piece of lasagne

There are 2 shifts in the lasagne production...

morning 9-5 shift...

and afternoon 2-10 shift...

the morning shift which includes Ben and 2 other guys are in-charge of making the bolognaise sauce and bechémel for the lasagne...

Our daily dose of bolognaise...

then comes the afternoon shift... KM... me...
and another guy (always MIA... -_-... so equals to only KM and me...)
we'll start moulding the lasagnes together wif the morning ppl...
each lasagne is handled wif stringent hygiene practices...
hand gloves must be on at all times... :P

Laying of the lasagnes into 60cm moulds...

when the lasagnes are moulded...
they'll be sent into the blast freezer to freeze at -40°C
this will take about 1 - 1½ hrs...
this is to ensure that bacteria will not breed in the lasagnes when we send them for baking on the actual dae...

The blast freezer of death

after they are deep frozen...
they'll be sent to the walk-in freezer to keep them frozen at -18°C
they'll only be thawed when the actual dae of the event nears...
and will be baked on the actual dae itself...
we gotta report to the hotel at 1am to start baking... Zzz...
a total of 1000 moulds will be made... which makes 600m...

Total of 9 stacks of frozen lasagne for the past couple weeks...

after returning from the walk-in freezer...
KM and me will start to blanch the required amount of lasagne skins for tomoro's production...
so that's pretty much wat we've been doing these couple of weeks back...
boring work... Zzz...

samples of the lasagnes from each sae of production will be sent to NEA for testing...
to ensure no bacteria growth is present...
the results are back wif us now...
and all the lasagnes passed the NEA's lab test... :P
yay...

though i dun use it at all...

coz i live on the 2nd storey... LOL... :P

Heard production would be ending early...
coz we only need to do 1000 moulds of lasagne to make it 600m...
den if nothing goes wrong...
might be able to complete production on next Fridae...
or maybe Thursdae...
after the actual dae of the whole event ends...
i'll be posting a few photos on the production process...
the journey through Prego's Longest Lasagne... :P
